Notes

The data collected here was taken from original records held at the Barbados Department of Archives under references RB7/26 and RB7/27

The records cover the period December 1831 to July 1834 just prior to the Emancipation Act becoming effective on 1 August 1834

The records comprise 377 printed forms, an example of which is attached to the right. (click for a larger image)

All relevant information has been extracted from the forms and is presented here, thus making it unnecessary to request access to the original documents in future (these are in reasonable condition but some pages are brittle)

The information presented here is listed alphabetically by owner. Listing by Slave name is coming soon.

Click on slave name to see any further details.

When is a slave name a second Christian name and when is it a surname? Some of the decisions in these transcriptions may be debatable.

Where boxes have been left blank the information was not given on the form.
